Above, the craft of David. The !ARA Foundation wishes to further support the existing, unique hand & art craft that has emerged from the region in the last couple of years. Many craft-artists have barely sustained their families by selling craft to passing tourists.
Eco-tourism : Whilst tracking of animal-tracks is an ancient practise to the hunter-gatherers across the world, the Bushman of the Kalahari are regarded of the best in the world. Tracking is still used by a small part of the community, but the art is being neglected. !ARA Foundation wishes to facilitate an environment where the elders can share knowledge with younger generations, (who are fast being drawn to the trappings of the cities.) Visitors to Blinkwater are offered a safe environment where they are encouraged to interact with local trackers on short-excursions into the desert.
The Dance : The !ARA Foundation has the intent to provide the secure environment where the traditional dances may once again take place, unhindered by the intrusive filming/photography that often accompanies the spectical of the dance.
